I usually don’t have much to add to theme days but I have this one covered.
1. Tires manufactured sometime in the 20th century
2. Oil leak from...somewhere (not rear main seal or valve covers)
3. Headlight switch intermittent since I tore the dash apart to fix the tach
4. Rear quarters need patched
5. Dents, dents and more dents
6. Paint
7. Needs kickdown switch for the TH400
8. Needs torque converter cover
9. Headliner
10. Trunk lock replaced
Bonus: all weatherstripping replaced, headlight trim, trunk torsion spring replaced, trunk lock bezel, header emblem, add H-pipe, etc. etc.

Did.... did you buy my wheels ?

Ha! They were on the car when I bought it so I can’t take credit, or blame depending on the eyes of the beholder, for those. In my head they were always going to be swapped either for Torq Thrusts or Z28 rally-style wheels but now I’m contemplating keeping them just because you don’t see them very much anymore and the others are so common.

I thought of keeping mine, too. But once I got the 80's or 90's tires off, and saw how they were two-piece wheels with a bead of dried up caulk running down the center (plus the words FOR BIAS PLY ONLY) around the hub hole... I rid myself of them. ;)

Thankfully mine aren’t that old. They were probably put on about the same time the tires were which I think was the early 90s if I’m decoding the tires correctly.

But is the leak this bad?:

Not yet, but if my car looked as good as that I’d be ok with it. That’s gorgeous!

The owner drag races it. Big meat at the back. He lost oil pressure on the track. Shut it down in time. When we had it apart we found it spun a bearing or two.
Off to be checked fixed and back in before next weekend. And 2 more cars to get through the shop in the same timeframe..

So, is that your car?
I have a van that I love: it’s a ‘97 GMC Safari. I’ve only had to replace the engine, transmission and rear end. And ALL of the paint is falling off. I won’t part with that van until it is no longer either reparable nor driveable.

It is! It started as an $800 basket case and now, after a ton of work, it’s reached jaloppy status.

I think that’s the last, best, Camaro body style.

It’s a ‘71 but it has the ugly bumper guards from a ‘73 since some previous owner must have crunched the front and replaced it with parts from a ‘73. I didn't want to take them off and just leave the holes so they're there until I can get a new bumper.

The Rally Sport looked nice those years. I like the 60-series tires on this one as well.

I used to have a ‘72 that I put a complete RS front on, but I ran it in to a power pole. Those little bumpers don't give much protection.

But what bumper would save you from a power pole??

The battering ram at the front of a ‘74 Camaro would certainly have helped.

Personally, I like robust chrome bumpers.
